As a semi tractor and trailer crested the summit in Parley’s Canyon on Interstate 80 early this morning, it struck a patch of ice and the driver lost control. The truck rolled off the roadway, down an embankment, and onto a freeway on-ramp in a residential area. The driver of the truck was extricated with the Jaws of Life but only sustained minor injuries, including some burns and he is being treated at local hospital.
This accident serves as a sober reminder that winter driving is different. But driving in snow and ice can be done safely. Watch this:

The best tip is to avoid driving in bad winter weather, but that is not an option for most people most of the time. So be careful and manage the dangers as best you can.
